Focus Group

On May 30, the University of Alicante hosted a dynamic discussion forum as part of the European PATHFINDER project. The forum explored the role of training programs in supporting new social-community entrepreneurs and addressed key challenges linked to the Sustainable Development Goals. Organized by FUNDEUN with partners from Spain, Lithuania, Belgium, Austria, and Greece, the event gathered academics, consultants, social entrepreneurs, and municipal experts. Participants discussed future initiatives, including a pioneering European microcredential in community entrepreneurship, and emphasized the need for strong ecosystems to nurture social innovation. The forum reaffirmed the University of Alicante’s commitment to educational innovation and sustainable development.

Meeting with local development agents

The Business-University of Alicante Foundation (FUNDEUN) held a key meeting with local development stakeholders to present the European PATHFINDER project. Focused on enhancing the skills of entrepreneurs with social, environmental, and cultural initiatives, the meeting fostered dialogue to adapt training strategies to regional needs. Contest for University students Fundeun & University of Alicante

Through the European PATHFINDER+ project, FUNDEUN continues to strengthen its commitment to social innovation by collaborating with students from the University of Alicante’s Professional Skills III course. In partnership with Alicante Emprende, students developed community projects addressing social inclusion, sustainability, and the empowerment of vulnerable groups. The initiative culminated in the selection of “Creating Ties” as the winning project, promoting the autonomy and social inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities through animal-assisted activities. This collaboration highlights PATHFINDER+’s goal of fostering real social impact and empowering the next generation of community entrepreneurs.

The European project PATHFINDER+, led by FUNDEUN, tests its results in the VIII Triathlon of Social Entrepreneurship of the University of Alicante with applied training and innovative methodologies.

FUNDEUN, through the European project PATHFINDER+ focused on digital training for social-community entrepreneurship, has actively collaborated in the 8th edition of the Social Entrepreneurship Triathlon organised by the University of Alicante from 21 May to 17 June. This initiative, a benchmark in the promotion of projects with social impact from the university environment, has counted this year with the presentation of 10 innovative projects developed by students and young entrepreneurs of the UA.

As part of this collaboration, the PATHFINDER+ team has developed three training Pilot Tests, in which the PATHFINDER Toolkit and the methodology for the development of community projects available on the training platform of the project’s
website: https://platform.pathfinder-plus.eu/

These training sessions have allowed participants to improve their digital skills and structure their entrepreneurial ideas from a territorial, inclusive and social impact-focused perspective. Through collaborative dynamics and practical tools, the projects have evolved from the ideation phase to the presentation before a specialised jury. Finally, in this year’s edition, three of these projects were awarded with prizes.

Víctor Climent, coordinator of the Triathlon, pointed out that ‘FUNDEUN’s collaboration with PATHFINDER+ has greatly enriched the learning process of the teams, providing them with a clear methodology, adapted tools and a realistic approach on how to generate impact with the projects’. The PATHFINDER+ project has proven its effectiveness as a key resource for the training and design of viable, sustainable and transformative projects, facilitating social entrepreneurship among young people and local agents.

PATHFINDER+ Training in Thessaloniki

The city of Thessaloniki became a hub of innovation and collaboration on the 7th and 8th of May 2025, as Fifty-Fifty hosted the national PATHFINDER+ training course. The event welcomed 60 participants, including academics, social entrepreneurs, trainers, and local development actors, all committed to community-led innovation in higher education.

Over two intensive days, the training offered a dynamic mix of workshops, case studies, and collaborative sessions designed to build entrepreneurial and digital skills. Participants explored tools and strategies for developing impactful community-based projects, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals and fostering inclusive territorial development.

A strong emphasis was placed on group collaboration, encouraging participants to co-create project ideas with real-world application. The training also served as a space to strengthen professional networks and deepen understanding of digital transformation in the context of higher education.

The PATHFINDER+ project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, continues to support capacity building and innovation across Europe. Thessaloniki’s training proved once again the power of local action driving European change.

Final Conference

PATHFINDER+  came to an inspiring close with its Final Conference held in Valencia on 18 September 2025, bringing together universities, social enterprises, municipalities, and industry representatives from across Europe. The event marked the culmination of two years of dedicated collaboration focused on connecting higher education with community-led entrepreneurship and social innovation.

The conference served as a vibrant space for dialogue and exchange, welcoming participants from academia, local government, civil society, and the private sector. The discussions captured the essence of the project — that when education and community action work hand in hand, they can foster resilient, inclusive, and innovative societies.

Four thematic round tables guided the day’s program: Entrepreneurship, Employment and Sustainability; Social Innovation: Transforming Communities; Community-Led Success Stories; and Training Needs and Challenges in Social Entrepreneurship. Each session featured practical examples and inspiring insights into how local initiatives can grow through shared learning, mutual support, and cross-sector cooperation.

Speakers throughout the event agreed that effective communication and networking are essential for sustainability. The PATHFINDER+ partnership showcased how digital tools, storytelling, and participatory approaches can keep networks active beyond the project’s official end, ensuring that collaboration and innovation continue to thrive.

As the conference concluded, participants expressed their shared commitment to continue the collaboration established under PATHFINDER+. The project’s digital repository, open-access training materials, and educational resources will remain publicly available to support educators, entrepreneurs, and community organisations across Europe.

More than just a closing event, the Valencia conference was a celebration of cooperation, creativity, and social responsibility. It reaffirmed the project’s central message: when people communicate openly and work together across sectors, local ideas can grow into sustainable models for positive social change.
