The objectives of designing a project as a digital learning repository in HED for Enterprise Community developing, aiming at developing a blended learning educational program and associated teaching/learning resources for higher education institutions, accrediting agencies, and social entrepreneurs/innovators on the innovative topic of community enterprise development are:

 

  • Objective 1: To provide a comprehensive educational offering that covers the topic of community enterprise development, including knowledge, skillsets, and competencies required to create and manage community-led and community-owned enterprises / Unit of Measurement: •Identification and reflection on best practice examples of successful community enterprise and determine their critical success factors.
  • Objective 2: To enable learners to empower marginalized groups and disadvantaged locations by providing them with the capacity to create wealth and promote social inclusion, particularly for those who have been less successful in engaging with the dominant neo-liberal and capitalist market system / Unit of Measurement: Development and enhancing the knowledge, skillsets and competencies of learners on the concepts of community-led local development and community owned enterprises; and to apply an empowering and consultative framework in encouraging communities to become ‘enterprising’.
  • Objective 3: To promote civic engagement by fostering community-led and community-owned enterprises, encouraging individuals to take ownership of their local economies, and work collaboratively to create sustainable solutions to social and economic challenges.
  • Objective 4: To enable university graduates and social innovators to empower marginalised groups and disadvantaged locations, by providing the capacity to create wealth and promote social inclusion, particularly for those who have been less successful in engaging with the dominant neo-liberal and capitalist market system / Unit of Measurement: Development of a course syllabus and associated teaching and learning resources, with a possible focus on: community enterprise models / approaches; leadership, human resources and operational management in community enterprise; governance / legal entity frameworks; and finance.
